Eric Ampire

I do a lot of Android, Kotlin, JVM, and multiplatform development. With a decade of Kotlin experience, I'm also deeply interested in low-level systems programming using Rust, C, C++, and Swift, alongside cybersecurity and self-hosting infrastructure. As a Google Developer Expert (GDE) for Android, I regularly write technical blog posts, speak at conferences, and maintain open-source projects based on these topics.

Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP)
October 2023 – Present
Engineered core features for mobile applications connecting over vehicle hardware APIs, ensuring high reliability for outdoor vehicle telematics. Co-architected cross-platform mobile solutions using Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP) and Jetpack Compose to accelerate feature delivery across iOS and Android. Automated comprehensive end-to-end unit and UI testing pipelines to maintain high application stability and zero-regression deployments in production.

LottieFiles
October 2021 – June 2023
Spearheaded the complete codebase migration to Kotlin Multiplatform and Jetpack Compose, significantly reducing technical debt. Developed an interactive Animation Editor UI within the primary LottieFiles mobile application, serving millions of global creators. Standardized testing culture across the mobile team by authoring robust Unit, Integration, and UI test suites.

HISP Development Center
October 2021 – October 2022
Led core architectural refactoring of the DHIS2 Android SDK, migrating legacy Java codebases to Kotlin Coroutines and replacing REST endpoints with GraphQL. Designed and optimized local mobile database schemas to support high-throughput offline data synchronization in resource-constrained environments.

Evoludata
April 2018 – September 2021
Contributed to major open-source infrastructure projects (Tiki, ClearOS, Cryptech, Openfire) under Linux/Unix environments. Developed automated testing scripts to validate storage appliance performance and hardware integration. Identified and resolved system-level software bottlenecks, improving backend response times and service reliability.

ZX Connect
February 2017 – May 2021
Led and mentored a team of software engineers building client-facing Android user interfaces. Formulated the long-term technical strategy and modularized the Android infrastructure to support multi-stream application development. Established team-wide engineering practices including mandatory Design Document reviews, structured Code Review guidelines, and technical RFCs.
